ITINERARY IN DETAILS
This seven-day aromatic journey weaves together four of China’s most celebrated tea cultures—Hangzhou’s Longjing, Xiamen’s island charm, Anxi’s Tieguanyin, and Yunnan’s Pu-erh—into one seamless tea-centric itinerary. Bullet trains, short flights and winding mountain roads connect misty lakefronts, colonial lanes, centuries-old plantations and ancient towns. Each day is triple-split into Morning, Afternoon, Evening, with expanded detail yet no hotel references, guiding you from leaf to cup at every turn.

Day 1 Hangzhou – First Sips by West Lake
Morning – Arrive in Hangzhou and glide straight to the Longjing Tea House. Sit beside floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking emerald terraces while a tea master pours pale-gold infusions, explaining how spring dew and charcoal woks shape the nutty fragrance.
Afternoon – Check tension with a lakeside walk; willows brush mirrored water as stone bridges arc over lily pads and distant pagodas shimmer in late-day light.
Evening – Circle West Lake’s north shore as lanterns flicker on; snack on beggar’s chicken and osmanthus rice cakes from lakeside stalls while the moon climbs above the dark
silhouette of Leifeng Pagoda.

Day 2 Hangzhou – Museums, Villages and Verdant Rows
Morning – Shuttle to the China Tea Museum. Wander halls of antique teapots, Qing-dynasty export chests and interactive scent stations that let you compare green, white and oolong aromas.
Afternoon – Enter Longjing Village; stone paths wind between terraced bushes where pickers demonstrate the “two-leaves-and-a-bud” pluck. Inside a timber-framed farmhouse, sip freshly pan-fired tea and nibble sesame cakes while the farmer explains the alchemy of heat and timing.
Evening – Return to the city centre for a gentle stroll along Hefang Street—lantern dragons sway overhead and vendors roll dragon’s-beard candy in powdered sugar clouds.

Day 3 Hangzhou – Xiamen (Gulangyu Island)
Morning – Fly south-east; watch terraced tea fields shrink to patchwork below, then land amid Xiamen’s subtropical palms. A short ferry ride delivers you to car-free Gulangyu Island.
Afternoon – Meander Shuzhuang Garden’s cliff-side pavilions and Hao Yue Garden’s seaside rockeries; colonial villas painted pistachio, peach and cream line cobblestone lanes scented with frangipani and sea salt.
Evening – Sip iced coconut coffee on a rooftop terrace while sunset turns the Strait molten gold and the faint sound of a piano drifts from an old consulate turned music café.

Guanglangyu Scenic Area in Xiamen

Day 4 Xiamen – Anxi (Tieguanyin Heartland)
Morning – Bullet train inland to Anxi; mist clings to rolling hills quilted with deep-green Tieguanyin bushes. Inside the Anxi Tea Culture Museum, interactive dioramas reveal oxidation levels, rolling techniques and the legend of the Iron Goddess.
Afternoon – Wander Xiping Town’s stone-flagged lanes; duck into 19th-century teahouses where clay kettles steam and merchants discuss “orchid fragrance” versus “honey finish.” Taste amber infusions poured from pear-shaped pots into thimble cups.
Evening – Dine on tea-smoked duck and taro rice while crickets sing from courtyard vines and a full moon rises over the surrounding hills.

Day 5 Anxi – Xiamen – University & Temple
Morning – Drive to a hillside plantation; pluck dew-dressed leaves, learn the gentle twist that preserves the bud, and watch master rollers coax fragrance from glossy green strips.
Afternoon – Return to Xiamen and stroll palm-lined avenues of Xiamen University—Lotus Lake mirrors red-brick dorms and the distant sea. Climb the nearby Nanputuo Temple steps; incense coils spiral past gilded Buddhas and panoramic views of the city’s tiled roofs.
Evening – Sample street-side seafood barbecue—grilled oysters with garlic, chilli squid skewers—while neon reflects off harbour waves.

Dianchi Lake in Kunming

Day 6 Xiamen – Kunming
Morning – Fly southwest to Kunming; upon arrival, the air softens with jasmine and pine. Drop bags and head to the Old Town’s stone gates and cobbled lanes.
Afternoon – Browse markets piled with wild mushrooms, rose-petal jam and hand-painted fans. Sip Yunnan coffee brewed from beans roasted over charcoal braziers while folk musicians pluck three-stringed sanxians in shaded courtyards.
Evening – Feast on crossing-the-bridge noodles and steam-pot chicken in a lantern-lit courtyard where the scent of mint and coriander drifts on the cool high-plateau breeze.

Pu-er Tea Garden in Yunnan

Day 7 Kunming – Dianchi Lake & Bulang Mountain Pu-erh
Morning – Stroll Dianchi Lake’s boardwalks; seagulls wheel above sapphire water and distant hills shimmer in early light. Sip fresh coconut milk from street stalls and watch sunrise paint the sky rose and gold.
Afternoon – Drive south to Bulang Mountain; walk ancient Pu-erh tea forests where 800-year-old trees tower above undergrowth. Watch leaves sun-wither on bamboo mats, steam in baskets and compress into stone-mould cakes stamped with your own initials.
Evening – Share a farewell pot of earthy, camphor-scented Pu-erh with local tea masters before boarding your onward flight, the lingering fragrance of pine, earth and centuries of craftsmanship your final souvenir.
