Chengdu’s Main History
With over 2,300 years of continuous settlement, Chengdu is the cradle of the ancient Shu civilization. The Dujiangyan Irrigation System built in the Warring-States period turned the region into the “Land of Abundance.” It served as the capital of the Shu Han, Cheng-Han, Former and Later Shu regimes and is today one of China’s first National Historical and Cultural Cities.

Jinli Ancient Street

Located adjacent to Wuhou Shrine, it is an ancient street filled with Three Kingdoms culture and Sichuan folk customs. Shops line both sides of the street, selling various handicrafts and special snacks. The ancient theater stage, Zhu Ge Well, and other attractions add a strong historical and cultural atmosphere.

Wuhou Shrine

A special shrine in honor of Zhu Geliang, later merged into a shrine temple for both monarchs and ministers. Wuhou Shrine not only praises Zhu Geliang's spirit of "devoting oneself wholeheartedly to a cause until death," but is also an important place to understand the history and culture of the Three Kingdoms period. Inside the shrine, ancient trees tower, red walls and green tiles create a solemn and respectful atmosphere.

Dujiangyan

A masterpiece of ancient water conservancy projects, which still plays a significant role in irrigation and flood control today. Visitors can tour engineering facilities such as the Fish Mouth and Feishayan to understand the wisdom of ancient water management. At the same time, the natural scenery around Dujiangyan is also very beautiful.

The Panda Base

A world-renowned conservation base for giant pandas. It is not only a home for giant pandas but also a center for scientific research, breeding, and public education. Visitors can observe cute giant pandas closely and learn about their living habits and conservation status.

Du Fu Thatched Cottage

The former residence of the great Tang Dynasty poet Du Fu during his exile in Chengdu, now a national-level museum. The buildings within the cottage are simple and elegant, and the gardens are quiet and beautiful, housing a large collection of artifacts and materials related to Du Fu. It is an important place to understand Du Fu's life story and poetry creation.

Wangjiang Pavilion

A classical garden located by the Jinjiang River, with Wangjiang Pavilion as the main building.
