Main History 
Conquered by the Qin and Han, ruled by Xiongnu and Xianbei, the Yuan set up the Central Secretariat; the Qing divided it into leagues and banners. In 1947 it became China’s first ethnic-minority autonomous region and a key node of the Grassland Silk Road and Tea Road.
