Main History
Established as a General’s command in 1673, Jilin became a province in 1907. It served as “Xinjing” under the Japanese puppet state, was fully liberated in 1948, and saw its capital moved to Changchun in 1954. Today it is a major industrial base and a leading ice-and-snow tourist destination in Northeast China.

Eastern Changbai Mountains, central hills and western Songnen Plain. The highest peak is Baiyun Peak of Changbai Mountain (2,691 m). The province is the source of the Songhua, Tumen and Yalu rivers.

Changbai Mountain:known as the "roof of the Northeast", is one of the top ten famous mountains in China. The most famous here is Tianchi, a crater lake surrounded by mountains, with different scenery in four seasons, especially the skiing experience in winter is extremely rich. In addition, the waterfalls, hot springs and virgin forests in Changbai Mountain are also a highlight, making it a paradise for nature lovers.
Jingyue Lake: Located in Changchun City, it is a national scenic spot integrating forest, wetland and lake. The lake is clear and surrounded by green trees, making it an oasis in the city. Visitors can hike, ride or take a boat here to enjoy the tranquil natural scenery.
The Museum of the Imperial Palace of the Manchukuo: Located in the center of Changchun, it is the palace and private residence of the last emperor Puyi and his consorts. Songhua Lake: Located in Jilin City, it is a large artificial lake known for its beautiful scenery and rich water activities.
