Main History
Capital of Wu State in the Spring & Autumn period, named “Suzhou” in the Sui dynasty, it flourished as the cultural and economic heart of Jiangnan under the Song and Ming-Qing dynasties. Listed as a National Historic City in 1982, Suzhou is celebrated as the “Garden City” and the Silk Capital of China.
